DRYWALL TAPER

Job Description
First Response is a full service, privately held company providing Structural Restoration, Remediation and Environmental Emergency Services to both the private and public sectors.
First Response is currently seeking an expert drywall taper who can immediately put their experience to work on a variety of building initiatives involving both commercial and residential applications.
Objectives of this Role

• Load and unload, and identify and distribute materials to the appropriate location
• Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets on wood or metal stud
• Cut and install metal corner beads
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
• Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
• Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
• Ability to apply successive coats of compound
• Must have ability to sand seams and joints with little to no dust
• Installation of vapour barrier and insulation an asset

• Ability to fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
• Clean-up and disposal
• Equipment set up and take down

REQUIRED Skills and Qualifications

(Only those with the following qualifications need apply.)

• Minimum Experience 3 years residential / commercial drywall
• Possess a Class G Drivers Licence
• Clear Criminal Check / Bondable
• Willing to work 24/7 in an on-call environment
• Willing to work out-of-town (at times)

Hourly Rate will be solely based on experience and qualifications. We offer a lucrative hourly wage for specialty work subject to premiums and per diems for out of town work.

CARPENTER

First Response is a recognized industry leader in emergency response services pertaining to Hazardous Materials, CRBNE, Confined Space Rescue, Environmental Remediation and Restoration. Our company is in the position of seeking new talent to grow our expanding operation. Our ideal candidates are those who are team oriented with flexibility and availability in their schedules with the execution of 24/7 Emergency Response.

We are looking to fill a full time Carpenter position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Prepare layouts.
  • Measure, cut, shape and join moldings, wood materials, drywall and plastic materials.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings and hardware.
  • Build floor beams and subflooring.
  • Build walls and install partitions.
  • Install suspended ceilings.
  • Build and install framing for dropped ceilings, counters, indirect lighting and display cases.
  • Erect prefabricated roof trusses, braces and sheathing.
  • Build in place pitched roof systems.
  • Build roof trusses.
  • Build built in place flat roofs.
  • Install roof flashing.
  • Install fire doors.
  • Install floor tiles or rolled flooring.
  • Install drywall and insulation.
  • Build porches and verandas.
  • Build decks and fences.
  • Build and install flat forms, scaffolding, ramps and ladders.
  • Operate power tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.

Qualifications required:

Minimum (5) years’ work experience.

Must be bondable and pass a criminal record check.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Highly motivated personality.

Strong work ethic.

Physically fit.

Requirements:

First Response is currently seeking motivated and experienced labourers to join our Confined Space Entry team. Candidates must be physically and mentally fit for preforming work-related duties within narrow and tight quarters. All work is overseen / accompanied by an experienced Confined Space Rescue team. Successful applicants will be provided with the required Confined Space Entry training upon hiring.

Additional qualifications required:

1 year+ construction or trade experience

Willingness to work out of town on occasion

Restoration Technician

First Response is a full service, privately held company providing Structural Restoration, Remediation and Environmental Emergency Services to both the private and public sectors.

First Response is currently seeking a Restoration Technician who can immediately put their training to work on a variety of building initiatives involving both commercial and residential applications. This professional will be responsible for working on multiple projects at once, ensuring compliance with all related procedures, regulations, and codes. In addition to Water Remediation, this role is developmental and can incorporate specialized training initiatives that will advance the applicants career opportunities. There are several areas where the skills of a qualified Restoration Technician cross over to our Environmental Division and we are looking to develop the right candidates for specialized roles.

Objectives of this Role 

  • Utilize available resources to perform project duties efficiently
  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner ensuring all health and safety policies are followed
  • Function as part of a collaborative environment and work closely with other team members and industry professionals
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to industry standards

Responsibilities 

  • Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards and ensure day-to-day safety and keep tools and equipment in good working condition
  • Load and unload, and identify and distribute materials to the appropriate location
  • Operate machinery according to instruction, project plans and specifications
  • Document and report daily workflow along with any work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions
  • Assessment and execution of required remediation effort(s) including removal of effected building fabrics and contents
  • Clean-up and disposal
  • Equipment set up and take down
  • Equipment monitoring (reporting to include proper documentation of moisture readings)

REQUIRED Skills and Qualifications(Only those with the following qualifications need apply.)

  • Minimum Experience – 1 – 2 years in the Water Damage Restoration Industry having a good working knowledge of IICRC S520 / S500 standards (WRT, ASD, MRS, AMRT)
  • Possess a Class G Drivers Licence
  • Clear Criminal Check / Bondable
  • Willing to work 24/7 in an on-call environment
